ok, this is a poem i wrote a couple of years ago about when i first moved to mount vernon. it got published in an anthology of poetry by young people soon after it was written...
so anyway, here it is:
Strangers By: Daniel Kasper
I’m looking at the people I see, Laughing, yelling, all around me. I sit in a group but I’m really alone, The people around me are strangers all.
I used to think the first day of school Was a great day, when I saw friends again. But something is different this fall, The people around me are strangers all.
The morning has passed uneventfully, I’ve learned names but that is all, And now, at recess, The people around me are still strangers all.
I know we really had to move, And my old friends are only an hour away, But I still feel lonely, for right here today, The people around me are strangers all.
I start talking to a kid, His finger is bandaged, For a motor had taken off the nail, And we played together, today.
The people around me remain strangers all, But they seem hospitable now, For I have found a friend amongst these kids, These kids who are strangers all.
hope you like it...

thanks. ive thought about doing more, but for me, poetry doesnt work very well if i try to make myself write it. i can do prose and do alright like that, but for poetry, i just need something to give me inspiration, so i dont write it very much
