I just got started on this game series a few weeks ago since it was suggested to me by a friend. This is one of the best RPG's for the PS system! It is really unique as well, the layout is very similar to that of an MMORPG, but since the other characters are computer controlled for the most part (except fights, you can control their actions in battle).
I think that if they decide to make an actual MMORPG for this game series, it would be great because they have a very good system going right now and there would only be a few minor adjustments to be made to acccomplish that goal. (Although it would be a lot of programming.)
Anyway, has anyone else played these games, and if so what do you think about them?

The .hack game consists of four parts: Infection, Outbreak, Mutation, and Quarantine. The game takes place after the anime series .hack//sign but before .hack//legends and during .hack//limity. The game makes references to parts of .hack//sign and you can get area codes from .hack//limity.
The game imitates an on-line role-playing game. Through out the game you play as the character Kite. You try to save a girl named Aura. You also stop a virus from destroying the game and the world.
The Game's story board is great but the game play gets repetitive after a while. (finding virus cores is very tedious work).
Over all I give this game a 7.5 out of ten.

True, the virus cores were tedious, but they did make the game very good and for the most part you could get the cores you needed while you were playing if you used data drain about 2-3 times in every level you were in which made it pretty easy in that regard. Also, if you take a look at how they did the weapons and other such things, then you can see that there is a unique process to it, you do a lot of trading to get some of the best items and you can do unlimited exploring and you can just go on for the pure fun of adventure forever and ever. The storyline was also great, I have yet to see a point where there was no anticipation of what was coming next, i was more worried about where the discs were gonna end and i would have to switch the discs, but still the storyline was amazing. But Bron, do you think that it would make a great MMORPG?

I actually wondered what this game would be like as an on-line RPG. It would be hard to keep the original story board of the game due to the servers in the game being nearly destroyed.... But If the story was tweaked a little, throw in a few quests and missions, yeah it'd be a great MMORPG.

Well, I didn't really mean, make the current series into the MMORPG, but rather i meant that maybe create a new game that is similar, using the same idea's and stuff. But, it would be hard to keep that storyline...very hard.

I'll just say thay if they turn it into an MMORPG like FFXI, WOW, or NN then I'd be more then happy to play the game. The characters on .hack look cool as well, thats always a bonus..... I think I'd want to be a wave master.....

Hey. As it turns out they will be making the system into an acuall online game. look for the game titled .hack//fragments to come out. they are also coming out with a new .hack game called .hack//Guilty Union. seems like you basically play as the bad guys in this one. instead of defraging the phases you have to bring them back. Kite seems to be one of you're enemies as well.... or at least his data is. I'll keep you updated on the information and I'll look for trailers to the game to post links to. Hopefully the MMORPG turns out to be great.
Ja Ne!
